My name is Jim Dang. I will be teaching Precalculus, Calculus AB and BC Advanced Placement courses for this school year.
I grew up in Cypress, Texas and graduated high school at Cypress Falls High School in Cy-Fair ISD. I attended the University of Texas at Austin and majored in Economics. Wanting a change from the business world, I started as a substitute teacher at Cy-Fair High School before setting my math teaching career at Humble High School in Humble ISD. In 2006, I then transferred to Atascocita High School and opened the school. In 2012, I accepted a position at High School of Performing and Visual Arts in Houston ISD. Dreading the commute to and from Downtown Houston, I came back to Humble ISD and Kingwood Park High School in 2013. In 2019, I was invited to participate in the AP Calculus reading and plan on going for future years. In 2021, a wonderful opportunity to join Jordan High School in Katy ISD happened and this will allow me to be much closer to my immediate family. My teaching certifications include Math 4-8 and Math 8-12. I received a Master's Degree in Mathematics at Sam Houston State University in August 2013. I am also a math adjunct professor at Lone Star College in Kingwood. In my spare time, I love to watch University of Texas Football, discuss sports and statistics, listen to music (almost anything I fancy), and playing poker. I also enjoy surfing the Internet, having engaging conversations at one of our many restaurants in Katy, Cypress, and Houston area with my friends, and relaxing. In case you did not know, I am obsessed with burnt orange Texas Longhorn paraphernalia. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at vietdang@katyisd.org or visit my contact page. I have a personal Twitter account and a school Twitter, as well. Feel free to follow me, especially if you enjoy my sports rants. #WARRIORMENTALITY. Community. Commitment. Resilience.
